Vingåkers Kommun Elevates Security and Streamlines IT Operations with Heimdal PASM

Vingåkers Kommun, a Swedish local government municipality, needed to replace a risky legacy access setup that relied on direct RDP connections and a cumbersome jump server model. The IT team also had to manage access for external vendors and contractors using unmanaged endpoints, creating security and operational challenges. To address this, the municipality evaluated solutions and chose Heimdal Security’s Privileged Access and Session Management (PASM) platform.

Heimdal Security implemented PASM to centralize privileged access through a secure web-based workflow with MFA, Conditional Access, session monitoring, and support for both internal staff and external users. The result was a move to a zero-trust model that eliminated direct RDP exposure, improved visibility and control over third-party access, and reduced support burden through simpler administration. Vingåkers Kommun also reported faster user setup, clearer policy changes, and strong support from Heimdal Security, with the solution delivering better security and operational efficiency at a cost-effective investment level.
