A Healthfuse Case Study
West Virginia University Medicine (WVUM), an academic health system in Morgantown, West Virginia, partnered with Healthfuse to improve management of its complex enterprise revenue cycle operations. WVUM had more than a dozen long-term vendor relationships, but an initial assessment found over-invoicing, outsourced accounts that were not being worked to best practice standards, and bolt-on technologies that needed replacement.
Healthfuse built a centralized Vendor Management Office (VMO) to oversee vendor performance, enforce accountability, and improve reporting across account-level activity, collections, and patient experience. With Healthfuse, WVUM increased outsourcer performance by more than 30%, achieved $16.2M in cash-factor improvement after 3 years, recovered $250K from invoice disputes, reduced self-pay collection costs by 30%, and doubled net liquidation and cash recoveries for select vendors.
