Cape Fear Valley Health, a large North Carolina health system serving more than one million people annually, partnered with Healthfuse to evaluate and manage its collections vendor relationships, including Medicaid Eligibility, Early Out Self Pay (EOSP), Underpay Recovery, and Bad Debt. The health system suspected these vendors were underdelivering on ROI and may not have been complying with contract terms, with particular concern around unclear EOSP compensation and inappropriate fees.

Healthfuse scrubbed and certified invoices, reconciled vendor inventories, updated service-level agreements, renegotiated fees, and performed account-level audits to improve collections oversight. As a result, Healthfuse uncovered more than $500,000 in inappropriate fees, recovered $334,000 in overbilling in the first four months, increased vendor collections by $7 million in the first 11 months, and identified a recurring $7 million P&L opportunity with a three-year impact of nearly $16.6 million.
