HealthRules® Promote Empowers Medica Health Plan to Streamline Processes

Medica, a Minnesota-based non-profit health insurance provider, was challenged by the administrative complexities and potential for error that came with its rapid growth and the management of over 70,000 configuration assets across multiple instances of its HealthRules Payer core system from HealthEdge. The manual processes made it difficult to track and promote configuration changes safely, risking that errors could negatively impact thousands of claims.

To address this, HealthEdge collaborated with Medica to develop and implement a new solution called HealthRules Promote. This web-based application introduced automation for tracking and migrating configurations, dependency checks, and multi-user controls. The results for Medica were significant, including time savings in production, a major reduction in errors, and enhanced audit capabilities. HealthEdge's solution empowered the health plan to confidently manage over 400 configuration projects in a year with zero issues during a major commercial plan rollout.
