Colorado School Districts Go Head to Head in Walktober Walking Challenge

Colorado School Districts partnered with Health Enhancement Systems to boost staff wellness through a friendly inter-district competition. After staff surveys in District 49 suggested a rivalry would increase engagement, District 49 and Academy School District 20 worked with Health Enhancement Systems to launch an interdistrict Walktober walking challenge (supported by HES’s Canvas platform) to increase activity, camaraderie, and participation.

Health Enhancement Systems ran the Walktober campaign with weekly mini-challenges, a social wall, team play, and coordinated promotion; the results were significant: 323,132,353 total steps (161,566 miles), 497,388 minutes of walking, 75% of participants reached the program goal of 20 leaves, 65% joined teams, and District 20 surpassed prior participation records by 19%. Health Enhancement Systems’ program measurably increased engagement and created new, sustainable wellness habits across the districts.
