A Health Catalyst Case Study

Preview of the Pulse Heart Institute Case Study

Readiness Assessment Crucial First Step in Building an Outcomes Improvement Focused Organization

Pulse Heart Institute, a physician-led specialty organization formed to be the Pacific Northwest’s destination for adult heart health, needed a clear, healthcare-specific way to assess its readiness to drive and sustain outcomes improvements across multiple centers and locations. To address that challenge, Pulse Heart engaged Health Catalyst and its Outcomes Improvement Readiness Assessment (OIRA) via on-site Professional Services to evaluate organizational readiness and identify gaps in capabilities and governance.

Health Catalyst conducted the on-site OIRA assessment—interviewing 37 cross-discipline stakeholders and evaluating 22 competencies across five categories (leadership/culture/governance, analytics, best practices, adoption, and financial alignment)—and delivered baseline results and targeted recommendations. Using Health Catalyst’s findings, Pulse Heart implemented coordinated performance goals, regular governance and dyad meetings, prioritized data integration and analytics literacy, developed workplans for best-practice adoption, and invested in leadership financial acumen, actions that helped the organization meet or exceed quality and financial targets and produce measurable patient improvements in its heart-failure clinic.
