Case Study: Orlando Health achieves faster data acquisition and major time & FTE savings with Health Catalyst's Late‑Binding Analytics Platform

A Health Catalyst Case Study

Preview of the Orlando Health Case Study

Faster Data Acquisition Delivers Speedy Time to Value

Orlando Health, one of Florida’s largest private, not-for-profit healthcare networks, struggled with a rigid early‑binding enterprise data warehouse that made adding and linking new clinical and business data slow, labor intensive, and unable to support changing reporting or quality needs. To gain flexibility and faster access to data, Orlando Health chose Health Catalyst’s Analytics Platform built using the Late‑Binding™ Data Warehouse architecture.

Health Catalyst implemented a late‑binding EDW (extract→load→transform) that lets Orlando Health load full source datasets quickly and defer mappings, enabling new capabilities like tracking patient location and linking billing with clinical data. The change delivered measurable gains: 245 fewer days and 1.0 FTE saved integrating the encounter billing summary system, 56 fewer days and 0.4 FTE for the infection control system, a 99% reduction (90 days) in time to implement enhancements, and a 98% reduction in enhancement work hours—dramatically accelerating time to value.
