The customer, a book preference platform, needed to extract detailed information such as character names and locations from ePub ebook files to power its companion app. They engaged HDWEBSOFT Software Development to overcome this technical challenge of processing and structuring the raw data from the books.
HDWEBSOFT implemented a solution using an epub extractor library combined with the spaCy Python library for natural language processing. This successfully parsed the eBooks to retrieve the required information. The result for the customer was a fully functional app that displays book chapters, characters, places, and their corresponding Wiki profiles and images. HDWEBSOFT successfully delivered the core data extraction capability that the application needed to operate.
