Clarkson Adopts HCSS Safety to Boost Thriving Program

Clarkson Construction, a 150-year-old heavy-civil contractor in Kansas City (with several affiliates), runs a strong safety program but faced operational strain: Loss Control Director Jeff Gamble is the lone safety officer responsible for multiple jobsites and time-consuming paper-based reporting. That gap became clear after a dump-truck rollover required days of chasing records for OSHA — a process Gamble says could have been much faster with digital tools.

To solve this, Clarkson adopted HCSS Safety so foremen can record meetings, inspections, near misses and incidents on smartphones or tablets and send data straight to the office. The app speeds incident reporting, puts ownership in the field, lets Gamble spend more time onsite instead of paperwork, and supports Clarkson’s already low EMR (.47), helping control claims and insurance costs.
