Carolina Bridge Trailer Stolen by Moonshiners Recovered by HCSS GPS

Carolina Bridge Company of Orangeburg, S.C., outfits its equipment with HCSS GPS asset tracker units that hold a charge for three years. When a large trailer hauling a 250‑gallon diesel fuel drum was stolen from a laydown yard, Vice President Dan Nickel turned to the HCSS GPS system after contacting police to try to locate the missing equipment.

Using pings and location data on Google Maps from the HCSS GPS unit, Nickel pinpointed the trailer inside a large facility about 10 miles from the job site and alerted law enforcement. After a search warrant was executed, police recovered the trailer and fuel and uncovered a massive moonshine still producing more than 3,000 gallons; Carolina Bridge notes they’ve since used GPS to recover other stolen vehicles and equipment.
