Large Logistics Company operates a globally distributed, evolved IT landscape with nearly 50 heterogeneous relational databases (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL). To improve performance they adopted a Hazelcast in-memory data grid (IMDG), but keeping the IMDG’s data model synchronized with constantly changing source schemas became a major maintenance and time-to-market challenge. Hazelcast’s Auto Database Integration (ADBI) was engaged to address this issue.

Hazelcast implemented ADBI to analyze source metadata, generate Java POJOs at design time, and feed data into the Hazelcast IMDG at run time using the Portable format so schema changes don’t require new POJOs or business‑logic rewrites. Applications access grid and RDBMS data uniformly via Java Streams, making reconfiguration trivial and enabling partial mirroring when needed. The result: a 15% reduction in maintenance costs and up to 100x faster application setup, significantly shortening time to market.
