A Hazelcast Case Study
Major Investment Bank, a London-based firm, needed a real-time foreign-exchange quotation management system to handle inbound FIX RFQs from external brokerages and deliver low-latency quotes to trader desktops. The challenge was replacing a complex multi-vendor stack (separate databases, queues and custom integration) with a single reactive, scalable platform that supports time-based expiry, high-throughput messaging and fast in-memory access.
Hazelcast implemented Hazelcast IMDG—using in-memory distributed maps, client-side eventing, messaging, grid computation and TTL eviction—to ingest RFQs, push quote events to trader .NET clients, compute prices/margins, and automatically evict expired quotes. The system has been in production for over three years with 99.9% uptime, prevents trades on expired quotes via TTL eviction, simplified operations by consolidating services, and has increased the bank’s FX profit margins.
