HVAC Distributor Amplifies User Experiences with Hawksearch

Packard, Inc., a leading HVACR distributor with more than 12,000 parts and components sold primarily to wholesalers and distributors, faced a key challenge during a website redesign: their standard search couldn’t serve two distinct user types (wholesaler counter workers using long-tail attribute queries and purchasing agents searching by SKU), couldn’t hide restricted products by user, and couldn’t let buyers reliably filter products by detailed specifications.

Packard implemented Hawksearch, using Relevancy Tuning, the Search Information Manager (SIM), Visitor Targeting and a product configuration tool to deliver attribute-aware results, normalize and match SKUs, show user-specific pricing and inventory, and hide restricted items. The changes improved the search experience and conversions, producing $1M in monthly savings, a 70% increase in user registrations and an 18% rise in online revenue.
