A Haulmont Case Study
Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS), a marine classification society founded in 1913, needed to modernize a complex, document-heavy process for vessel inspections and technical supervision across more than 100 offices in Russia and 37 branches worldwide. Its legacy software portfolio had become outdated, costly to maintain, and difficult to customize, creating challenges for managing over 160,000 documents a year and supporting collaboration across global teams. Haulmont provided THESIS, its enterprise content management system, to replace the fragmented legacy environment.
Haulmont implemented THESIS as the core ECM platform, initially automating customer requests for vessel inspections and then expanding it to handle almost all internal and external communications, key business processes, accounting integration, and migration of the RS fleet database. Haulmont also delivered customizations and offline capabilities for remote work. The first version went live in four months, and the system now supports more than three million documents and tasks for over 1,500 users. RS reports that automating inspections reduced admin time by 80%, saving over £1 million per year in staff costs.
