Renaissance, a leading K-12 educational software company, faced a challenge when building its new Teacher Journey application. They needed to surface rich insights from their Snowflake Data Cloud directly within the app via APIs but found that frequent, small queries to Snowflake were cost-prohibitive. Their initial DIY pipeline to move data into PostgreSQL was expensive, slow, and difficult to maintain, creating a significant engineering burden.

The solution was implemented by Hasura using its Snowflake connector. This allowed Renaissance to directly query Snowflake as the operational data store, eliminating the complex and costly data pipeline entirely. By leveraging Hasura's built-in caching and performance optimizations, the team achieved low latencies and avoided ballooning costs. Hasura saved the company the equivalent work of several full-time engineers, enabling the team to focus on application development instead of building and maintaining API infrastructure.
