Yahoo! Japan - Customer Case Study

Yahoo! JAPAN, one of the most visited websites in Japan with around 80 million users, needed a better way to manage secrets, credentials, and encryption keys across its large cloud-based environment and multiple datacenters. Its existing approach risked overloading the key management system as application and key requests grew, creating concerns around availability, performance, and security.

To address this, Yahoo! JAPAN implemented HashiCorp Vault to securely manage authentication information and encryption keys across geographically distributed locations, private cloud platforms, and dozens of services. With HashiCorp Vault, the company improved security posture, reduced breach risk from key exposure, eliminated unplanned downtime, and accelerated delivery by avoiding at least six months of development time needed to build a custom solution.
