Vault Configuration as Code via Terraform: Stories From the Trenches at Hippo Technologies

Hippo Technologies worked with HashiCorp to improve how it managed secrets and Vault configuration as part of a broader DevSecOps transformation. The challenge was moving away from manual, inconsistent, and hard-to-audit security operations toward a repeatable, infrastructure-as-code approach using HashiCorp Vault and Terraform.

Using HashiCorp’s Vault provider for Terraform, Hippo Technologies began configuring Vault as code, separating Vault deployment from Vault configuration and applying best practices for auth methods, policies, audit logging, and dynamic secrets. The approach helped Hippo continuously improve Vault management as the provider added new features, while strengthening consistency, auditability, and security; the case study does not provide specific numeric impact metrics.
