AGL Energy, Australia’s largest private developer of renewable energy assets, needed a better way to manage cloud and infrastructure change across a mixed IT environment that was neither fully cloud-native nor fully on-premises. The organization faced common operating-model challenges around authority, communication, and coordinating DevOps responsibilities, and wanted a more scalable approach to infrastructure as code and compliance.

HashiCorp helped AGL Energy implement a GitOps workflow using Terraform Enterprise and Sentinel policy as code. With reusable Terraform modules, InnerSource practices, and automated policy checks, AGL Energy gained quicker feedback on compliance and a more collaborative cloud operating model; the case study highlights improved governance and operational efficiency, though it does not provide specific numerical results.
