A HashiCorp Case Study
Thomson Reuters needed a way to discover newly introduced services and centrally configure loosely coupled applications across a dynamic multi-cloud environment. As infrastructure scaled and shifted across clouds, the team faced challenges with service discovery, health awareness, and keeping load balancers and configurations in sync; they evaluated HashiCorp Consul for this use case.
HashiCorp implemented Consul to provide service discovery, health checks, and a distributed key-value store across multiple data centers. The result was a more automated, highly available way to register services, route only to healthy nodes, and manage multi-cloud infrastructure with less manual effort; the case study also notes reduced bandwidth and write volume through Consul’s push-based model, though it does not provide exact numerical metrics.
