Case Study: Ubisoft achieves stronger security and 99.9% uptime with HashiCorp Vault

A HashiCorp Case Study

Preview of the Ubisoft Case Study

The Pioneer In Online Gaming Uses Hashicorp Vault To Enhance Security, Availability, And Performance Across A Global Gaming Platform

Ubisoft, the global video game publisher behind franchises like Assassin’s Creed, Rainbow Six, and Far Cry, needed a better way to manage secrets across a highly distributed infrastructure spanning multiple regions, clouds, and on-premises systems. As its teams worked autonomously, secret sprawl, inconsistent practices, and manual credential handling created visibility gaps, security risks, and the potential for outages from expired certificates or misconfigured secrets. HashiCorp Vault was introduced to help standardize secrets management without disrupting studio workflows.

Using HashiCorp Vault, Ubisoft automated the issuance, retirement, and rotation of secrets across its public and private cloud environments, alongside HashiCorp Terraform for infrastructure provisioning. The result was stronger security, fewer manual tasks, and the elimination of unplanned service interruptions caused by secret management issues. Ubisoft also pushed service level objectives to 99.9% uptime, reduced breach risk from secret exposure, and improved security posture across thousands of applications.
