The Globally Distributed Teams At Samsung Optimized Terraform Workflows And Workspace Design To Manage Multi-Cloud Infrastructure Across AWS And GCP

Samsung Electronics uses HashiCorp Terraform to manage the multi-cloud infrastructure behind global services including Bixby 2.0, Knox, and RCS. As Samsung’s teams expanded across South Korea, the United States, China, Europe, and India, they needed a way to reduce manual errors, coordinate many DevOps teams, and keep infrastructure consistent across AWS and GCP while supporting VM-based, container, and serverless architectures.

HashiCorp helped Samsung standardize on Terraform Enterprise, along with better workspace design, module design, remote state management, policy enforcement, and Git-based workflows. By moving to a well-grained, organized Terraform model, Samsung improved collaboration across teams, reduced costly changes to unrelated resources, and made infrastructure easier to reuse and maintain. The case study notes that Samsung’s Terraform-managed services support over 60 million users across more than ten environments.
