Q2 Uses Hashicorp Nomad After Their Evaluation Of Several Major Orchestrators

Q2, a digital banking provider serving a large share of U.S. online banking users, needed a better way to deploy and manage a mix of legacy Windows-based and newer applications. Before adopting HashiCorp Nomad, its teams relied on manual, risky processes for deployments, rollbacks, service restarts, and environment changes, making scale, security, and self-service difficult.

Q2 implemented HashiCorp Nomad alongside Consul and Vault to orchestrate workloads across on-prem VMware datacenters and some cloud environments, supporting both containers and executables without major rewrites. The result was over 7,000 jobs and 40,000 tasks running across 1,500 VMs, with improved deployment speed, resilience, auditing, security, and standardized operations through code-driven workflows, dynamic secrets, and automated monitoring.
