Petco, the pet specialty retailer, needed a faster, more consistent way to provision and manage infrastructure across a hybrid environment with both VMware and cloud workloads. Working with HashiCorp, the company looked for a way to modernize server builds, reduce manual effort, and support self-service while still meeting enterprise change, security, and compliance requirements.

HashiCorp provided Private Terraform Enterprise (pTFE) as the core of Petco’s infrastructure-as-code platform, integrated with GitLab, VMware, Chef, Vault, Infoblox, and Sumo Logic. The solution automated image building, IP and DNS assignment, server provisioning, configuration, and collector registration end to end, cutting system build time from about 5 days to minutes and reducing O&M, deployment pain, and drift while improving security and resource utilization.
