A HashiCorp Case Study
Mercedes-Benz Research and Development North America (MBRDNA) needed a better way to support its cloud-first, Kubernetes-based development for connected and autonomous vehicles. As its teams moved from on-premises infrastructure to Microsoft Azure, they struggled to discover, connect, and coordinate hundreds of microservices spread across multiple clusters quickly and reliably. To solve this, Mercedes-Benz turned to HashiCorp Consul for service discovery and networking.
With HashiCorp Consul, Mercedes-Benz built a centralized service discovery platform across several AKS clusters, enabling more than 200 microservices to be found and connected in minutes instead of days. The team could provision a new Kubernetes cluster in under 30 minutes, launch Consul in just 12 weeks, and bring the development process in-house while reducing certificate and server maintenance costs through network tags and improved segmentation.
