Case Study: Criteo launches new services in under 1 minute with HashiCorp Consul

A HashiCorp Case Study

Preview of the Criteo Case Study

Leading Global Advertising Platform Uses Hashicorp Consul To Launch New Services In 1 Minute By Eliminating All Manual Operations

Criteo, a global advertising technology company, needed a faster, more reliable way to manage service discovery across a massive infrastructure of thousands of services and servers. Manual DNS updates, database changes, and service connections were slowing new service launches and creating opportunities for misalignment and outages. To solve this, Criteo turned to HashiCorp Consul, along with HashiCorp Terraform and Vault, to streamline service connectivity and infrastructure operations.

With HashiCorp Consul, Criteo automated service discovery, health checks, and network configuration across its hybrid environment, replacing manual workflows and reducing operational overhead. The results were dramatic: new service delivery time fell from 3 weeks to 1 minute, existing service discovery dropped from 4 hours to minutes, and manual operations for spawning new services were cut to zero. Criteo also reduced infrastructure costs by millions of dollars and repurposed much of its Consul operations staff to higher-value work.
