Case Study: Asian Development Bank achieves faster, more resilient cloud infrastructure with HashiCorp Terraform

A HashiCorp Case Study

Preview of the Asian Development Bank Case Study

Leading Asian development bank solidifies support for millions across the region by improving its infrastructure performance and resilience using HashiCorp Terraform

Asian Development Bank (ADB), a mission-based development bank supporting grants, loans, and technical assistance across Asia-Pacific, needed a faster and more resilient way to move core infrastructure to the cloud during COVID-19. Working amid remote operations, rising demand, and the need to protect critical services from regional disaster risk, ADB turned to HashiCorp Terraform to modernize and standardize its infrastructure approach.

Using HashiCorp Terraform alongside Microsoft Azure and other HashiCorp tools, ADB automated the build-out of a new disaster recovery datacenter and cloud infrastructure with infrastructure as code. The results were significant: VM provisioning time dropped from days to minutes, the virtual datacenter was built in under 5 days, 2,000+ datacenter assets were configured in less than 45 days, and a complete data warehouse could be deployed in under 5 minutes. HashiCorp also helped improve security, compliance, and resiliency while enabling 24/7 automation.
