IAM and Compliance Automation at Red Ventures with Terraform

Red Ventures, a large media and services company with many brands and AWS accounts, needed a better way to manage IAM access as it grew. Its engineers faced a confusing mix of access methods across business groups, creating a poor user experience, security risk, and compliance headaches while trying to answer basic questions like who had access to which accounts and roles. The company turned to HashiCorp Terraform to help automate access management and standardize the process.

HashiCorp helped Red Ventures build a custom Terraform provider and API-based automation layer to orchestrate IAM, AWS permission sets, Active Directory groups, and ServiceNow requests in one workflow. This enabled self-service access requests, improved security and compliance visibility, and replaced manual, fragmented role setup with a more scalable system. The case study does not provide specific numeric results, but it highlights faster access, better governance, and a simpler experience for engineers.
