A HashiCorp Case Study
VMware, a global cloud provider software business unit, was struggling with manual infrastructure changes, poor documentation, inconsistent environments, and no clear audit trail across teams in England, Israel, and the US. To address these challenges, VMware turned to HashiCorp’s Terraform to bring infrastructure as code to its deployment workflow.
With HashiCorp Terraform, VMware standardized its infrastructure setup across development, staging, and production, added version control and automated deployment steps, and made changes traceable through Terraform state and code review. The new process streamlined updates through Gerrit, Jenkins validation, and Slack notifications, improving consistency and reducing manual effort, though the case study does not provide a specific numeric impact.
