How Indeed Used Terraform in its Move to AWS

Indeed, a leading online job platform, needed to accelerate a major infrastructure migration after the 2021 Texas winter storm forced the company to rethink the risk of relying on its Austin datacenter. With hundreds of engineers unfamiliar with AWS and Terraform, Indeed had to move critical services to AWS in a matter of months instead of the originally planned multi-year timeline, using HashiCorp Terraform and Terraform Enterprise to bring order to the effort.

HashiCorp’s Terraform and Terraform Enterprise helped Indeed standardize workspace management, credential handling, governance, modules, and communication around infrastructure as code. The company completed its “Winter is Coming” migration goal, moving critical services to AWS and scaling Terraform adoption across the organization, with more than 500 people now active in its Terraform channel and Terraform becoming a core part of everyday operations at Indeed.
