Cisco Operationalizes Vault As A Multi-Platform Enterprise Offering

Cisco needed a centralized way to manage secrets, keys, and signing operations across many internal teams as it expanded from hardware into software and cloud services. To support manufacturing device certificates, software signing, licensing, and other 24/7 global operations, Cisco turned to HashiCorp Vault and created its internal enterprise service, Keeper, as a multi-tenant platform for teams across the company.

HashiCorp helped Cisco build Keeper with the enterprise features and support needed for a centralized model, including namespaces, high availability, replication, HSM ownership, and separate dev, non-prod, stage, and production environments. Cisco reported strong early traction and stability, including 85 million Vault transactions in the first two months after launch with six teams onboarded, and said HashiCorp’s support felt more like a partnership than a typical vendor relationship.
