Cielo, Brazil’s leading electronic payments provider, needed a faster and more reliable way to manage its complex infrastructure as transaction volumes and product demands grew. Manual provisioning across on-premises and multi-cloud environments was slowing delivery, increasing costs, and making it harder for Cielo to keep pace with competition and regulatory expectations. By implementing HashiCorp Terraform, Cielo standardized infrastructure as code, enabled reusable self-service modules for development squads, and added policy-as-code guardrails with Sentinel. The results were substantial: infrastructure delivery time dropped from 30 days to under 15 minutes, change request time fell by up to 50%, and time-to-market improved 5x. Cielo also gained greater standardization and team autonomy, reducing dependence on manual infrastructure processes.
