WorkJam accelerated its CI process by 40% using templates and Docker layer caching on Harness

WorkJam, a B2B workforce management and engagement platform for frontline teams, needed to improve its CI/CD workflow as its existing Bitbucket Pipelines setup hit scaling limits. The company struggled with limited templating, slow and unreliable builds, and high operational overhead, while also aiming to shift security left and make CI more dependable for developers. WorkJam used Harness for Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery.

By moving to Harness CI and continuing with Harness CD, WorkJam introduced templated pipelines, Docker layer caching, and Harness-managed build infrastructure to streamline delivery. Harness helped cut Docker image build times by about 40%—from roughly 24–30 minutes down to 15–17 minutes—and reduced production deployment time from three days to just two to three hours, a greater than 90% improvement. Harness also improved developer experience, enabled parallel deployments with approvals, and integrated security scanning to block vulnerable builds before production.
