WePay improves release strategy with microservices migration

WePay, a financial services company that powers payment processing for platforms like Constant Contact, FreshBooks, and Zoho, needed a safer way to release software as it moved from a monolithic PHP architecture to microservices. With a slow weekly-to-biweekly release cadence and the risk of disruptions across a large payments ecosystem, WePay turned to Harness’s Feature Management & Experimentation product, previously Split, to reduce release risk and improve agility.

Harness helped WePay decouple feature rollouts from code deployments, enabling controlled releases, internal testing, gradual customer rollouts, and smoother microservices migration with multi-language support. As a result, WePay moved from bi-weekly releases to deploying features as often as needed, eliminated midnight hotfixes, improved user experience during backend changes, and gave engineers more time to focus on core projects instead of maintaining custom flagging tools.
