United Airlines Accelerates Deployments by 75% With Harness

United Airlines, one of North America’s largest carriers, was modernizing its software delivery as part of its United Next digital transformation. As it moved from monolithic applications to microservices and aimed to migrate 80% of workloads to AWS, its legacy deployment tools couldn’t keep up with the scale, speed, security, and compliance demands. United used Harness Continuous Delivery & GitOps, along with Continuous Integration, to address these challenges.

Harness provided United Airlines with a platform for self-service CI/CD, reusable templates, automation, and built-in governance guardrails that shifted security and compliance earlier in the development process. With Harness, United cut deployment time from about 22 minutes to under 5 minutes, achieved 75% faster deployments, and generated 10 pipelines in 50 seconds instead of days or weeks. Harness also reduced manual coordination, improved compliance, and freed developers to focus on higher-value work.
