SMU, a retail company operating grocery and convenience store brands across Chile and Peru, needed a safer and more reliable way to deploy Kubernetes microservices. After using GitOps tools like Weaveworks Flux, the team found that it lacked deployment verification and had slow rollbacks, creating downtime risk. To address this, SMU turned to Harness and its Continuous Delivery and GitOps capabilities.

With Harness, SMU implemented canary deployments with automatic rollbacks and onboarded services in about an hour each. The results were significant: rollback time dropped by 83% from 30 minutes to 5 minutes, and deployment time fell from roughly an hour to 5 minutes, a 98% reduction.
