Openbank Achieves Daily Deployments with Harness Continuous Delivery

Openbank, the digital bank of Santander Group, faced a difficult digital transformation and public cloud migration while managing 20+ microservices across multiple teams. Their existing Jenkins-based CD process was brittle and hard to scale, with manual testing, deployment verification and rollbacks taking 2–3 hours and full deployments taking 4–6 hours. To address this, Openbank adopted Harness Continuous Delivery (Harness’ Continuous Delivery-as-a-Service platform).

Harness implemented a single “pane of glass” CD platform with self-serve deployments, automated canary releases, continuous verification using machine learning, and deep AWS integration. As a result, Harness reduced deployment time by 75%+ (from 4–6 hours to ~1 hour), cut deployment effort by 66–95% (from 3–15 Ops engineers to 1 developer), slashed rollback time by 96% (from 2–3 hours to 5–10 minutes), and enabled development teams to achieve daily deployments.
