Case Study: Build.com achieves a 75% reduction in MTTR and faster, safer deployments with Harness

A Harness Case Study

Preview of the Build.com Case Study

Build.com reduces MTTR by 75%

Build.com, the second-largest online home improvement retailer in North America, was struggling with a fragile CD process: production verification was manual (involving 6–7 team leads), rollbacks could take up to ~40 minutes, and the team lacked time and resources to implement true canary deployments. They evaluated Harness and chose Harness’ Continuous Delivery-as-a-Service (CDaaS) to add verification, rollback and mature end-to-end CD capabilities on top of their existing Jenkins-based CI.

Harness implemented canary deployments, machine-learning auto-verification, and self-service CD integrated with Jenkins, New Relic and Sumo Logic, and migrated existing Jenkins work in about 8 hours. As a result, Harness reduced MTTR and rollbacks by 75% (from ~40 minutes to ~10 minutes), cut business impact from deployments by 95% with canaries, saved 780 team-lead hours per year, and enabled 3 production releases/week (≈1,500 deployments/month); Build.com also noted strong ROI versus building the capability in-house.
