CHESTER helps E.ON to assess temperature in cable boxes remotely

E.ON, a major European energy company, faced the challenge of monitoring temperature and humidity in its cable boxes to identify the most reliable suppliers and reduce high maintenance costs. The company also wanted to test the new NB-IoT communication network. They engaged HARDWARIO to create a battery-powered sensor for this purpose.

HARDWARIO developed a robust sensor using its CHESTER IoT platform, which communicates via Vodafone's NB-IoT network and runs on a battery for up to five years. The solution included a data visualization platform and a smartphone app for administration. This allowed E.ON to monitor cable box quality online, leading to significant maintenance cost savings and establishing them as an innovator by being an early adopter of NB-IoT technology.
