PlaceWise Digital, a leading provider of digital shopping services for more than 20 years, needed to modernize a legacy platform that was struggling to scale. Facing frequent unplanned downtime, limited visibility into traffic, and concerns about bots and illegitimate users consuming bandwidth, the team looked for a reliable edge solution. They turned to HAProxy and initially deployed HAProxy Community Edition, later moving to HAProxy Enterprise for additional capabilities.

With HAProxy Enterprise, PlaceWise Digital gained automatic failover, better load balancing across roughly 50 servers in eight regions, and stronger observability through logs integrated with ELK. HAProxy’s Antibot module and MaxMind GeoIP integration helped reduce unwanted traffic and support GDPR compliance, while Let’s Encrypt simplified certificate management. As a result, unplanned downtime was virtually eliminated, planned maintenance no longer affected customers, and the team could scale more efficiently with less development time.
