ONOS NetConf Plugin Development for Leading Service Provider

Happiest Minds partnered with a leading service provider to address a critical SDN integration challenge: legacy network devices were incompatible with SDN controllers and the client could not fully leverage ONOS’s extensible architecture to modernize operations and reduce failures.

To resolve this, Happiest Minds developed a NetConf southbound plugin for ONOS and implemented YANG-based data models for use cases like filtering and QoS, using Java, NetConf, Jenkins, Gerrit and GNS3 for simulation. The solution enabled partial cooperation of legacy devices with the SDN controllers, improving interoperability and reducing device-related failures.
