A Hannon Hill Case Study
The University of Alaska Southeast (UAS) is a regional campus of the University of Alaska system with main and extended campuses in Juneau, Sitka, and Ketchikan and a small web team of three. When UAS needed to supply fresh, consistently branded content to a statewide portal, its decentralized content, frequent personnel changes, and resistance from contributors created a tangled, time‑consuming workflow that left the webmaster swamped and campuses out of sync.
After a three‑month evaluation UAS implemented Cascade CMS to consolidate content on a single server, eliminate redundancy, and repurpose XML‑based content across multiple channels. The CMS gave the web team fine control of HTML while empowering departments to publish their own notices and events, automated daily portal updates, and freed the webmaster for strategic work—resulting in a cohesive regional site, faster updates, and plans to roll out campus templates for improved accessibility and branding.
