A Hannon Hill Case Study
Texas A&M University faced a critical communications challenge: its Code Maroon emergency alerts relied on a single person to update the website, and when that person was unavailable during an incident the web team realized they needed an automated, reliable way to publish alerts across campus sites. Hannon Hill worked with Texas A&M staff to document requirements for automating emergency updates to the university, emergency, and mobile sites.
The team built a lightweight solution that polls the Code Maroon RSS feed and uses Cascade CMS web services to update and publish static HTML pages, chosen for performance, resilience under traffic spikes, and to preserve an audit trail of alerts. The project took just over a month from planning to implementation, required cross-team coordination, and proved effective when it successfully executed during a major bomb-threat evacuation.
