Northeastern University - School of Law - Customer Case Study

Northeastern University School of Law, known for its Cooperative Legal Education Program and commitment to social responsibility, was constrained by its then-CMS, Serena Collage. The platform made it difficult to add automated features like news and event feeds, was not intuitive for non-technical content editors, and was being discontinued, so the university needed a robust, user-friendly system that would let local staff update content without heavy involvement from the central web team.

After evaluating several vendors, NU selected Hannon Hill’s Cascade CMS for its seamless migration path (including a Serena migration tool), site-specific permission model, and simple editor interface. Hannon Hill’s Professional Services migrated the law school site into Cascade, enabling non-technical staff to manage content, freeing developers for other work, improving dynamic functionality and workflows, streamlining content reuse to reduce orphaned pages, and supporting ongoing enhancements such as multimedia and photo gallery automation.
