A Hannon Hill Case Study
The College of William & Mary, a 316‑year‑old public Ivy with about 8,000 students, faced a fragmented and unscalable web presence: roughly 75% of its 450 content contributors used a PHP4 homegrown tool or Dreamweaver, with decentralized folders and inconsistent design that undermined branding, governance, and growth.
W&M’s Integrated Web Services led a stakeholder-driven redesign (re.web) with consultant mStoner and selected Hannon Hill’s Cascade CMS for its flexibility, WYSIWYG controls, and folder-based navigation. The IWS team migrated content with trained student editors, rolled out targeted training and documentation, and increased contributors to ~600; the result was stronger editor ownership, easier site governance, reduced IWS burden, improved content quality, and multiple redesign awards (eduStyle Noteworthy, Judged, and People’s Choice).
