A Hannon Hill Case Study
Auburn University’s Samuel Ginn College of Engineering needed a reliable, affordable CMS to replace an inexpensive local system that had a confusing interface, a weak WYSIWYG editor, limited support for dynamic content (RSS, video, Flash), and — after the vendor shifted focus — virtually no support. With a decentralized web structure and tight budgets, the college required a stable, flexible solution that could be adapted to existing workflows and support multiple server-side technologies.
After evaluating about 50 products, AU selected Cascade CMS for meeting all critical technical requirements, offering static export, multi‑language/server support (PHP, ASP, ColdFusion), granular permissions, positive references, and budget-friendly licensing that could be shared across colleges. Deployment empowered departmental editors (most trained in two four‑hour sessions), reduced help requests, and enabled new dynamic features: automated news, rotating linked images, RSS feeds, and work underway on calendar and events functionality.
