McDonald’s Launches their Early Talent Program with Handshake

McDonald’s worked with Handshake to build an early talent recruiting program and expand its employer brand beyond in-person career fairs. As a small four-person team reaching about 15 schools each season, it needed a way to connect with more universities and students while increasing diversity in its talent pipeline.

Using Handshake Premium, McDonald’s used Segments, Campaigns, and messaging to reach students nationwide and send personalized outreach ahead of career fairs. The effort reached 478 schools, drove a 2.9x increase in applicants year-over-year, increased applicants from HBCUs by 166%, and helped nearly double the undergrad intern class from 15 in 2019 to 29 in 2020.
