Increase employer registrations by 1.8X with multi-school virtual fairs

The University of Illinois Chicago partnered with Handshake to help students and alumni find opportunities with government employers through the annual GCRC Government Job Fair. After years of running the event in person for UIC and other GCRC member schools, the team needed a better way to host the fair as it moved online and expanded beyond its usual local audience.

Using Handshake, UIC ran the 2021 fair as an open multi-school virtual event with over 30 other institutions. The result was 76%+ employer registrations, 140%+ student registrations, 86%+ schools represented, and 728 unique connections recorded, while the format also made it easier to bring in out-of-state agencies and helped UIC prepare to host another federal job fair with 14 other institutions.
