A Halo Case Study

Preview of the PepsiCo Case Study

PepsiCo receives 57 scoped proposals in 30 days with Halo

PepsiCo, a leading global food and beverage company, faced a challenge in its goal to make all its packaging recyclable, compostable, or biodegradable by 2025. They needed a moisture barrier for bio-based films that would protect products like potato chips without sacrificing the material's biodegradability. To solve this, they partnered with Halo to source external innovation.

Halo connected PepsiCo with its global network of scientists by optimizing their problem statement, hosting a well-attended webinar, and issuing a request for proposal. This process yielded 57 high-quality proposals, 33 of which were screened. As a result, PepsiCo identified 8 strong candidates and initiated 5 active projects with new research partners, successfully expanding its network of packaging experts on the Halo platform.
