The CMA Awards, with sponsor Mary Kay, wanted to bring the Red Carpet to life by delivering the first live 360° VR experience so online fans could feel like they were there. The challenge was to produce a high-quality, fail‑proof live VR stream for thousands of viewers, and the project required a reliable encoder and end‑to‑end workflow; Haivision was selected to provide the streaming technology.
Haivision’s KB 4K HEVC/H.264 Encoder was integrated into a workflow with the Nokia OZO camera and Thinkingbox’s production to stitch and deliver 3D 2050 x 1890 VR video to YouTube Live. The Haivision solution enabled high‑resolution 360° playback and robust delivery over the public internet, reaching nearly 31,000 viewers, supporting Mary Kay’s “I Can” campaign and creating a successful immersive Red Carpet experience.
