How Southland Christian Church is Using Online Ministry to Foster Real Connections

Southland Christian Church, a multi-campus ministry in Kentucky, faced full campus closures during the COVID-19 pandemic and needed a way to keep their congregation connected. They had partnered with Haivision since 2015 to stream between campuses and, in 2019, launched an online campus using Haivision encoders and Haivision Video Cloud to deliver worship, children’s programming, training, and coaching over the public internet.

Haivision’s encoders, Makito appliances, KB transcoder and Haivision Video Cloud provided reliable, high-quality streaming at lower cost and with minimal staff, enabling Southland to sustain robust online services—their Easter 2020 service was the most-watched to date. Haivision Video Cloud’s analytics gave granular viewer insights (attendance, device counts, and view duration) that Southland used to refine services, improve group outreach, and maintain engagement as campuses reopened at limited capacity.
